O Blues

SOBBIN' HEARTED BLUES

Perry "Mule" Bradford / Layer / Davis
as rec by Bessie Smith w Louis Armstrong (cornet) & Fred Longshaw (piano)
Jan 24th 1925 New York

You treated me wrong, I've treated you right,
I worked for you both day and night!
You bragged to women that I was your fool
So now I've got them sobbin' hearted blues.

The sun don't shine in my back door some days,
The sun don't shine in my back door some days,
It's true I love you but I won't take mean treatments any more!

All I want is your picture, it must be in a frame,
All I want is your picture, it must be in a frame,
When you go, I can see you just the same!

I'm gonna start walkin' 'cause I got a wooden pair o' shoes,
I'm gonna start walkin', I got a wooden pair o' shoes,
Gonna keep on walkin' till I lose these sobbin' hearted blues!
